Pioneer supply of High Voltage GIS Equipment

At the end of 2019, Seit reached an important milestone in the electricity sector by managing to close a deal for the supply of the first substation with 72.5 kV GIS technology in Spain from a Chinese manufacturer. This achievement was possible thanks to our strategic alliance with Pinggao Group, the Asian market leader in the manufacture of high-voltage equipment for substations.

The agreement was signed with Omexom, one of our main partners in Spain in the high voltage installation sector, and allowed us to be part of the project for the construction of the Torreblanca Electrical Substation (Malaga).

This project was particularly relevant for the Junta de Andalucía, as the substation played a crucial role in the growth of Malaga and in supplying electricity to a major urban development project in the area.

Commitment to high quality equipment

The agreement established that the GIS was to be delivered in the summer of 2020, with the condition of passing the entire homologation process by the electric company that would install it. Aligned with our partner Pinggao, we took on the challenge with full guarantee of meeting the specifications and deadlines.

However, within weeks of the first meeting held in December 2019 with representatives from the Pinggao factory, and Omexom engineering, news related to Covid-19 started to multiply until, in March 2020, the pandemic was declared. Despite the enormous difficulties caused by the pandemic worldwide, we were able not only to manufacture and certify the GIS on time, but also to meet the deadline for the availability of the equipment, which was ready to be shipped in July 2020.

Successfully overcoming adversity

Once we received our client’s approval, the GIS left for Spain where it was successfully unloaded on site in September 2020. This was possible thanks to the invaluable support of our partner Pinggao and the efficient collaboration of our partner Omexom, who expedited all the necessary responses to keep the process on track. In addition, the effort and dedication of our technical team played a crucial role in overcoming multiple global adversities.

This project was a milestone in the power supply industry, being the first GIS substation installed in Spain by a Chinese manufacturer and one of the pioneers in Europe.
